What very well could be Wimbledon's first ever LGBT bar has announced it is opening next month.

Previously known as The Pod Bar, a planning application was submitted late last year to redevelop The Broadway site.

But from her on out it will be known as CMYK Bar

"Set in the heart of Wimbledon on The Broadway, we'll be soon opening our doors to one of London's most stylish and contemporary late-night venues," a post on the bar's facebook page read.

"Enjoy our signature cocktails, live DJs and entertainment seven days a week."

This was music to Lee-Anthony Harris' eats who said LGBT bars have been few and far between.

"It’s about time something like this came to the area as the south west has nothing but the the two brewers in Clapham and that’s always rammed and you can never move," he said.

"We’ve had nothing since Escape in Kingston closed.

"I just really hope it takes off as we are seeing so many gay bars in central London disappearing.

"I really want it to be a success as it’s so hard to meet people in London as far to many people are relying on apps rather than meeting out.

"So it will be good to meet other people in the area that are actually local to Wimbledon."

Continuing to share information about the transformation on Facebook, the opening night was confirmed for Thursday, March 7 at 8pm, where drag acts such as Lisa Q Jones and Vanity Nightmare will be performing.
