A lake, windmill and even a boat house are just some of the things people can expect to see in Wimbledon Park after plans to upgrade the crazy golf course were approved.

Plans to turn the 18-hole mini golf site into a Wimbledon themed experience were submitted in January last year, and now that wish has been granted.

In a planning document attached to the application it read that creating an environment for both young and old was essential.

"A network of pedestrian pathways will meander around the course providing a ‘journey’ experience forming part of both a leisure and educational experience," it read.

"The proposal includes for the provision of a new ‘Wimbledon’ themed 18-hole mini golf course. In addition a small lake will be constructed."

To add to the local theme, various obstacles will be added, including a tennis ball, a Ha Ha Wall and a scaled lodge (from the park) replica.

"To enhance the customer experience it is essential that the course flows well and that, at busy periods, the amount of queuing is carefully managed through design," the application added.

"At peak times there is potential for around 70-80 players to be on the course at any one time.

"It is crucial that flow around the course is maintained and that ‘bottlenecks’ are avoided so far as practicable."

There is no time frame for how long the works might take.
