A driver has been injured after he was attacked during a “racially aggravated” road rage incident.

Police say the incident took place in Kingston Road at around 3pm on January 28 on the A240, near to the traffic lights in Ruxley Lane.

The victim of the assault claimed they were initially at the junction with Worcester Park Road, indicating to go left into the second lane so they could overtake two buses planning to turn left.

But it was when they returned to the first lane that the driver of a silver or grey Nissan Qashqai beeped their horn before “pulling in front” of the victim’s car.

The driver then exited their vehicle at the Ruxley Lane traffic lights before attacking the victim, leaving him with what police say are minor injuries.

The male suspect also made racist remarks towards the victim, however, Epsom and Ewell police have not provided further details.

The attacker is described as in their 50s, short with a large build, wearing glasses and had thin brown hair.

Now officers are urging anyone with information to come forward – those who saw the incident or may have dash cam footage from the location in the moments leading up to the incident.

People with information are advised to contact Surrey Police on 101 (999 in an emergency) or surrey.police.uk/TellUsMore, quoting the reference PR/45190011108.
