Film lovers can exhale after it was announced a much-loved Wimbledon cinema won't be closing anytime soon.
It was announced yesterday that record store HMV in The Broadway would be forced to shut following Canadian retailer Sunrise Records' purchase of the company.

This brought with it a lot of memories and farewells from people on social media.
We will miss you @hmvWimbledon. Absolutely gutted it's one of the store closures. It's a sad day! 😔💔 Thinking of all those who have lost their jobs. Wishing the remaining stores and staff all the very best for the future. I hope @hmvtweets will be around for a very long time.

But attention quickly turned to the 2nd floor of the building, where the HMV Curzon Cinema calls home, to see if it too would face the chop.
@hmvcurzon very sorry to see that Wimbledon HMV is on the list of stores to close. Very sad for the staff who are real film and music enthusiasts. Will there any impact to the cinema too?

My sympathies to everyone at HMV Wimbledon. But is @CurzonCinemas Wimbledon closing too? The staff there are wonderful and if there's one thing my corner of South West London is relatively short of, it's independent cinemas.

Much to the delight of many, the cinema took it upon itself to squash any rumors, taking to Twitter last night to address the issue.
"We'd like to assure all of our guests that Curzon Wimbledon is open for business as usual," the account for the cinema posted.
