A man was found dead last night after being hit by a train at Mitcham Eastfields.
Officers were called to the station at 9.43pm on January 22 following reports a person had been struck by a train.
Paramedics also attended and a 22-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner.
A statement posted on the National Rail website last night said that the incident meant all trains had to come to a stop.
"It is with great sadness that we were advised of a person being hit by a train," it read.
"As an immediate safety precaution all trains had come to a stand, and the electricity supply was turned off.
"The emergency services along with quick response Network Rail staff attended, and dealt with the incident as safely as possible.
