An eleven-year-old cat is looking for someone to grant his wish for a new family this Christmas after being found home alone.

Staff at the Battersea Dogs & Cats Home have named the unfortunate cat Kevin McCattister after the protagonist of the classic Christmas film, Home Alone.

Unlike the film character however, Kevin’s family aren’t coming back for him for Kevin was left behind when his owners moved away.

Luckily for Kevin, a kind neighbour noticed he had been abandoned and brought him in to Battersea.

After getting the all-clear from the charity’s vet team, the affectionate cat is now ready to move in to a new home where he will no doubt become a much-loved member of any family.

Rachel Saunders, cattery manager at Battersea, said: “We get hundreds of strays brought in every year and sadly a number of those are cats that have been left behind when their owners have moved away.

"We understand that people’s circumstances change and they may no longer be able to care for their pet, but we urge anyone in that situation to bring their cat in to a rescue centre rather than leaving them to fend for themselves.

“Kevin is a very sweet cat with a playful side that belies his years. We would love to see him find a new home before the end of the year.”
