A Morden netball team has netted a £250 sport award for a new team kit.
Abbey Primary School was selected for the award by a parent, Lee Hill, an electricity cable jointer in Croydon whose work helps to keep the lights on.
Lee’s daughter Lily, who is 10, plays in the team that meets for practice at the school every Wednesday.
“It’s brilliant to get this award and the team are really pleased, they have got a really nice new kit out of this award," Lee said.
"It means they don’t have to compete in their PE kit which gives them a bit of pride when they are playing against other schools.
“This has made a big difference and the school is really happy about it.”
The 'team sport award' is run by UK Power Networks and looks to encourage staff to volunteer in the community and is aimed at promoting healthy living, teamwork and development of sporting opportunities.
