A man has died after a fire broke out at a house in Carshalton.
Around 25 firefighters and four fire engines were sent to the scene of the blaze in Rushen Walk shortly after 11am this morning (November 21).
Half of the terraced home’s ground floor was damaged while crews wearing breathing apparatuses brought out a man to safety.
A London Fire Brigade spokesman said he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Firefighters were on the scene for more than an hour as the fire was deemed under control shortly before 12.30pm, with crews from Mitcham, Sutton, and Wallington stations in attendance.
The spokesman added that the cause of the blaze is currently under investigation.
