Reports of flash floods in Surbiton Crescent emerged on social media yesterday afternoon (November 13) after a weekend of heavy rain.

A spokeswoman at Kingston Council said the gullies were cleared within the hour after they had become blocked by leaves brought in by moving water from a neighbouring road.

Images and videos published online show extensive flooding in parts of Surbiton, with cars driving in floods and standing water.

A video shot at around 2pm on Surbiton Crescent shows the road partly flooded with rainwater and zebra crossing road markings completely obscured.

Kingston Council said Veolia and the council will continue to monitor and respond to any local issues.
