A Wimbledon pub has been crowned the most dog-friendly in London.

The Hand in Hand fought off fierce competition from a number of watering holes, but held on to the top spot.

Christine Blackman, assistant manager at the Hand in Hand was delighted when he was told of the victory.

“It’s absolutely amazing, fantastic, and brilliant," he said.

"We’re so happy and overjoyed to win this award for the third time. It means so much to us to retain our title, as being dog-friendly is at the core and heart of the Hand in Hand.

"It allows us a platform to promote and grow our charitable ethos and being part of our community, which has a massive doggy presence."

The award was set up three years ago by dog sitting business DogBuddy, in an effort to get boozers to cater more to their four-legged friends.

Richard Setterwall, founder and CEO of DogBuddy said: "The superb service demonstrated shows a real consideration for dog welfare and happiness, which we at DogBuddy value above all.

"The whole DogBuddy pack is proud to congratulate the Hand in Hand on winning the dog-friendly pub award for London, and hopes that the awards will inspire dog owners country-wide to discover and support their local pubs."
