People will now have slow down while travelling through Wimbledon Village.
After consultations with Wimbledon Village Business Association and other groups around the area, Merton Council has reduced the speed limit in the village's high street from 30 miles per hour to 20.
Merton Council’s cabinet member for transport, Martin Whelton, said: “Wimbledon Village High Street is a major route, which is used by through traffic as well as residents and visitors to the village.
"The new 20 miles per hour zone will slow down vehicles and help to make the high street calmer and safer for everyone, including cyclists, pedestrians, horses and riders.
"As a borough we support 20 mph zones and our aspiration is to roll it out across the borough, which will make our roads safer for pedestrians."
