A closed Raynes Park pub could soon be turned into flats.

Since 2011, three planning applications to turn The Railhouse (formerly the Junction Tavern) in Kingston Road into a hotel have been approved, but none implemented.

Now a fresh application has been submitted to Merton Council to turn the "run down and unused building" into nine flats.

The developers wrote in the application that the new building would "provide community benefits through the provision of new housing, new ground floor business and a visual improvement."

"The lower section of the existing building has surviving architectural features, pilasters, cornice and feature moulding, that are worthy of retention," the application read.

"The proposals seek to enhance the character of the existing building by retaining such features, with the abutting masonry fin wall clearly distinguishing between the new extensions and host

building."

The existing building is to be extended from three to four storeys and include six one bedroom, and three two bedroom homes

The mini cabs service next door would also be demolished.
