Some of the best young musical talent Wimbledon has to offer will soon gather for a night to remember.

Now in its fourth year, organisers of the Wimbledon BookFest’s Gig Night are hoping to showcase the borough's up and coming bands, singers and rappers.

"This is a fantastic opportunity for young musicians in the local area to get their music heard,” says local composer and lyricist, Julian Butler, who curates the event.

“The night is hosted by Radio X’s John Kennedy – one of the best talent spotters in the business.

"John and I are dedicated to giving young artists their first exposure, and the Baillie Gifford Big Tent at BookFest is the perfect venue for it.

In past years, students from school's all across the borough have taken place and it is hoped even more can join the ranks.

"We are looking for artists under the age of 19 in all genres of music, from rock to rap, grime to folk,"Mr Butler said.

"If you think you’ve got something, then email a demo (audio or video) to gignight@wimbledonbookfest.org, and you could find yourself on that stage.”

Gig Night takes place at Wimbledon BookFest on Saturday, October 13 from 5-7pm.
