Four medical practices across Merton will be making themselves available for evening and weekend cervical cancer screenings.

In an effort to get more women to have themselves screened, Central Medical, Merton Medical, Francis Grove and The Nelson Health Centre will be offering the tests.

Dr Andrew Murray, a Merton GP and chairman of NHS Merton Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “Cervical cancer screening prevents 75 per cent of cervical cancers from developing so we are making it easier for women in Merton to be tested, with evening and weekend clinics at local surgeries.

"We know finding time to make an appointment can be difficult and one in four women do not attend so hopefully these clinics will give more women the chance to take up this important test.”
