Families enjoyed Easter Sunday by meeting for an ‘Easter Egg Hunt’ on the Wimbledon Common hosted by a nature club.

Supported by the London Wildlife Trust children explored the common looking under the hedgerows to try and spot different model eggs.

Auriel Glanville, Club leader said: “We had a wonderful morning exploring for eggs and nests and identifying them.

“The children were then very creative painting model eggs and making nests to take home.”

They identified model eggs based on Heron, Moorhen, Coot, Cuckoo, Blackbird, Robin, Nightingale as well as others.

They then went down towards Queensmere pond and found swans and tufted ducks.

A tree creeper bird was also spotted.

The next club session on the Common will be on May 6 called ‘Pond Dipping’.
