Traffic lights at the busy crossroads at Wimbledon Hill Road and St George’s Road, by HSBC, stopping working this morning during rush hour.
The problem was first reported at 9.17am today (January 9).
Witness Ben Peyton said: “I’ve since left the area, but they weren’t working at all. Completely switched off.”
A spokesman for Merton Council said: “The traffic lights are under TfL, the council has no control over them, but we have passed the message on.”
At 1.50pm a spokesman from TfL said: "There was a problem but we sent engineers down and they’ve fixed it.
"Lights are back on – but we will keep an eye on them just in case."
There are no reports of anyone being injured.
