Major rail disruption is scheduled this weekend as track upgrades and improvement works are made on lines around Waterloo.

Network Rail is spending £600,000 on replacing key sections of track at Waterloo and around the network, which will take place this weekend and over the weekend of March 18 and 19.

The project is part of the £800 million Waterloo and South West upgrade, which aims to improve reliability on the route and boost capacity by 30 per cent.

On Saturday, March 4, and Sunday, March 5, engineering works will be taking place between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction. On Saturday, works will also be carried out between Wimbledon and Surbiton.

Fewer services will run between Waterloo and Clapham Junction, and rail replacement buses will operate between Wimbledon and Surbiton.

Passengers travelling anywhere on the network are advised to check their journeys before they travel at www.nationalrail.co.uk.
