A man has been found not guilty of murdering his fellow prison inmate in Coldingley Prison. 

Madala Washington, 23, of Abbey Parade, Wimbledon, was stabbed to death at the prison in Bisley on April 1, 2016.

He was pronounced dead about an hour after the attack, despite the efforts of police and the London Air Ambulance.

Fellow prisoner King Jahzeel Lewis, 24, was charged with murder on July 25, 2016. He was moved to High Down Prison in Sutton. 

His trial began at Guildford Crown Court on Monday, January 16, and a jury found him not guilty on Wednesday, February 1. 

Washington had been serving his sentence at the prison after he was arrested with 12 other people in dawn raids against drug dealers in September 2013. 

In a statement released after his death, his family said: “Our love will remain unshakable for our beloved Madala.
