A man has been arrested after a woman was raped in a park in Colliers Wood. 

The attack happened in Wandle Park, near to the water treatment works close to exit to Boundary Road, at around 11pm on Saturday, June 25. 

The woman raised the alarm with passers-by, who called 999. Police and paramedics attended.

The victim described her attacker as about 6ft tall, of medium build, with cropped dark hair. He was wearing a dark light-weight bomber jacket and dark straight leg jeans. 

Police have appealed for witnesses.

Detective Suzanne Jordan of the Metropolitan Police's Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command said: "I would like to hear from anyone who was in that area of Colliers Wood on the night on June 25 and who may have seen a man fitting this description. 

"If you saw or heard anything suspicious around that time of the night, but have not yet spoke to police, please get in touch."

A 24-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of rape on Monday and has been bailed until a date in August.
