Two employees scaled a narrow vertical tunnel, pulled themselves out of freezing cold water with a rope and clambered up cargo nets, raising hundreds of pounds for charity.

Alice Norrington, 22, and Laura Sears, 25, who work at the Oracle Group in East Street, Epsom, took on the four mile assault course with family and friends on Saturday, March 5.

The Nuts Challenge in Dorking saw the team take on a number of challenging obstacles during the course which they completed in two and a half hours.

They have raised £700 for their company’s charity of the year, the Surrey Care Trust, which offers learning, training and mentoring services to young families and vulnerable people across the county.

Ms Sears, who has been training for the event since Christmas, said: “Being the head of Oracle’s Charity Committee and the leader of our challenge group, I knew that I had to set a good example, so the gym soon became my second home.

"Once I started the race, I suddenly became very grateful for my time in the gym, especially weight training.”

The Oracle Group will be fundraising for the Surrey Care Trust throughout this year and have more events lined up such as cake sales, the London 10k in July and the Surrey Five Peaks Challenge in September.
