Police are warning residents to be on their guard after a spate of burglaries by men impersonating gardeners near Gap Road, Wimbledon.

Three burglaries have taken place in the area, and police have now released descriptions of the two men they are looking for in connection with the crimes.

The owner of a house near Gap Road reportedly disturbed one of the suspects, a black man, who asked the owner if they needed any gardening done.

He then left and met with a white man, and the two were later seen on private CCTV trying to open the back doors of the house.

The first suspect is described as as a light skinned black male of about 30 years-old. He is about six foot tall with a slim build and London accent.

He was wearing a grey hoody under a black leather jacket, blue jeans and black trainers with a white stripe.

The second man is a white male, aged between 28 and 30. He is about five foot six inches tall and of stocky build.

He was wearing a black beanie hat, black jacket, blue jeans and a single black glove on his right hand.

Police have asked anyone who is approached for gardening, or who sees men matching these descriptions, to call them on 101.

Residents are urged to call 999 if they firmly believe a crime is about to be committed or if the men have entered private property.
