Police have cordoned off a house in Morden after reports a man injured himself with a knife.
Police were called to the house in Canterbury Road at 12.02pm today.
The London Ambulance Service sent paramedics and an Air Ambulance landed in Morden recreation ground.
The man, in his mid-40s, has been taken to a south London hospital in a serious but stable condition. His next of kin have been informed.
A police spokesperson said: "A crime scene remains in place while officers investigate.
"At this early stage, no other person is being sought in connection with the incident."
A witness described up to 20 police officers at the house this afternoon.

Road closures were in place around the roundabout in Canterbury Road and Middleton Road while the Air Ambulance landed in the nearby Morden recreation ground.
Roads in the area have since been re-opened.
