Firefighters are battling a large fire on the M25 after a car transporter burst into flames.

The fire has taken hold on the motorway between Junctions 24 and 25 which lead to Enfield, north London and Potters Bar, Hertfordshire.

Anti-clockwise lanes between the junction have been closed.

Commuter Emily Adams wrote on Twitter that the motorway was at a "complete standstill".

A Met Police spokesman said at 8.42am that lanes were expected to be re-opened "soon".
