A pensioner was stabbed and robbed yesterday morning while washing his car in Thornton Heath.

The man, 80, was cleaning his car in his driveway at about 9.50am when three men attacked him.

One robber, armed with a knife, punched the elderly man, knocking him to the floor before stabbing him in the hand.

He was then robbed of his phone, wallet and watch before the three men fled towards Green Lane.

The victim was taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries. He has since been discharged.

The three men are described as black, wearing hooded tops or jackets.

No arrests have been made.

Detectives from Croydon's Burglary and Robbery Squad are appealing to anyone who witnessed the incident to call them on 020 3276 2179.
