Firefighters temporarily blocked off a road in Raynes Park this afternoon as emergency services poised to break down a door and free a "collapsed" elderly person from their home.
Three fire engines, two ambulances and a police car were called to Bushey Road at about 12pm.
Eric de Regnaucourt, a management consultant who lives in the road, said firefighters donned "saws and axes" as they prepared to break down his neighbour's door.
But it is understood they were not needed to enter the property and left within 15 minutes.
He said paramedics remain at the property to assist the elderly person.
A Met spokesman said: "Someone has collapsed by the door of an entrance - an elderly person's home where they may have had to force entry."
He said the elderly person's condition is not thought to be life-threatening.
Three fire trucks, two police cars and an ambulance in our street. What on earth is going on? https://t.co/yPGojJZMdL
