Residents of Willmore End have complained to the council, their local ward councillors and Stephen Hammond MP against travellers camping in the Abbey Rec Ground car park since early February, 2015.

Travellers families defecate and leave faeces and used up paper tissues on the Tarmac path west of their camping site.

Members of the public walking on this path have to negotiate around faeces and soiled tissues left in-situ.

This is an environmental hazard which should be addressed by the council without delay.

In addition, travellers have dumped timber boards, clothes and rubbish in the  children's playground area making it unsafe and hazardous for use by others.

Also bins in the Abbey Rec are now overflowing with rubbish and litter is strewn all over.

Traveller's generators are very noisy, particularly at night.

This is an environmental hazard which should have been addressed by the council immediately.

A CCTV camera was installed in 2011 when Willmore End Residents' Association (WERA) secured external grants with match funding from the council to construct new pavilion/changing rooms and car park currently occupied by travellers.

It is understood that CCTV camera was not functional at the time when travellers entered the Abbey Rec car park.

Council should check and confirm if the CCTV camera in Abbey Rec has now been made functional or not?

Travellers are causing malicious damage in and around the area and are making life miserable for the residents of Willmore End.

One of the angry residents has recently reported to the police extensive damage to her bedroom window when a large piece of timber was thrown on to her property.

Residents are furious and demand council to take the travellers to courts for eviction.
