Your correspondent (Labelling people OAP is offensive, letters, September 4, 2014) seems not to understand what ‘old’ means!
I am old because I am 85. I am not a senior citizen because I cannot define the term. Were I still in the RAF then I could understand the concept of seniority, but in civvy life I do not acknowledge that anyone is senior to me, nor I senior to them.
I am also a pensioner. so Old Age Pensioner sums up exactly what I am, and that is a good thing because then all can understand.
In other words I dislike pussyfooting around reality.

PS: If I had known what old age was like I would have put it off indefinitely! Me!
