Mitcham has taken its place on the silver screen after appearing in the trailer for Alan Partridge’s new film.

Large parts of comedian Steve Coogan’s upcoming film Alpha Papa was shot in Mitcham back in February.

Film crews spent a month at locations including Brook House, the other side of London Road from Vestry Hall, and around the Cricket Green which can be clearly seen in the film’s trailer.

Alpha Papa sees DJ Alan trying to negotiate with his colleague Pat Farrell, played by Colm Meaney, after he is sacked from North Norfolk Digital when it is taken over by a big media group who want to change it to Shape.

Pat takes the radio station hostage and refuses to speak to anyone but Alan, at which point the failed TV presenter is sent in to negotiate.

The trailer promises fans "Action", "Cops", "Ruddy danger" and "Textbook Alan".

Alpha Papa premièred in Leicester Square last night and is set to hit cinemas on August 7.
