The first episode of the new series of The Great British Bake Off saw the bakers tasked with creating 12 uniform Jaffa Cakes in the technical challenge.
But, rather than focusing on their efforts, fans of the show on Twitter were left absolutely fuming over judge Paul Hollywood’s decision to dunk one of Mary Berry’s Jaffa Cakes into his tea.
Mary herself was horrified over his actions, chastising him for dipping the cake into his brew.
She told him: “We don’t do that in the South, you know.”
She wasn’t the only one to feel this way, as many reacted in abject horror at his dunking display.
Others, however, got caught up in the dunking debate as they insisted that, yes, you do dunk a Jaffa Cake.
And plenty of others were happy to be there for the ride and see where the Jaffa Cake war would take them.
The jury is out. But then again, it all depends on whether you class a Jaffa Cake as a biscuit or a cake…
