Hayley Atwell and James D’Arcy admit they are loving leading a British invasion of US TV in Agent Carter.
The two young Brits play Peggy Carter and butler Jarvis in the Marvel TV spin-off series, along with Mamma Mia star Dominic Cooper as millionaire Howard Stark.
James said: “It’s a Brit fest! Hayley’s character was British in the first Captain America movie, Jarvis is British because Paul Bettany voiced him in the Iron Man movie, so I lucked out because they needed a British actor to come and play this role. Dominic is British playing an American.
“Within the first couple of days of shooting it was just the three of us on set and we all kind of slightly geeked out that this huge American show and the three actors on set were all British.
Hayley added: “We’re taking over! We have a British camera operator and an Irish camera operator as well, it’s lovely.
“We’ve injected quite a bit of British humour onto the set, keeping the sarcasm and the irony up.”
The pair also love the 1940s costumes – although James is not sure if he would be comfortable wearing his character’s tailored suits outside the show.
He said: “I think everyone looks good in those suits. It’s nice that they’ve tailored some beautiful three-piece suits for me, I think the 1940s was a very flattering time and I am not against wearing any of the costumes, although maybe not in 2015. It would be a bit weird if I wandered around in a three-piece suit now.”
Marvel’s Agent Carter is currently airing on Fox on Sunday nights.
