The world capital of cocktails, London, will once again be celebrating London Cocktail Week next month.

The week will run between October 7 and 16 and is designed to encourage Londoners to try new things, taste different cocktails, visit bars they’ve never heard of and maybe even try their hand at cocktail making too.

London Cocktail Week is the brainchild of innovative drinks writer and editor of Class Magazine and diffordsguide.com, the cocktail advice website, Simon Difford.

Massively oversubscribed last year, its first year, Difford has extended the concept this year, doubling the number places available to cocktail lovers and bars eager to join in the fun.

The main event, the Cocktail Tour, incorporates more than 150 bars, up from 50 last year.

Each bar will serve a bespoke drink, available for just £4 to those who have registered to be part of the festival. So hurry, it is your last chance to register for a FREE wristband this Saturday.

After September 17 they become £10 each.

To sign up and to find out what bars are involved, go to LondonCocktailWeek.com.

London Cocktail Week is also providing original Routemaster buses for free transportation around the capital.

A wristband will allow you free transport on dedicated buses, sponsored by Bacardi and running from 6pm – midnight Mon-Sun. Perrier water will be available on board.

The buses will drop you at the doorstep of some of the fantastic bars on the list. Just look out for the big red London Cocktail Week bus stops outside bars where your friendly bartender will serve mini-cocktails while you wait for the bus.

As well as the Cocktail Tours there will also be a daily dose of master classes, pop-up events and parties to enjoy all of which are available to book through LondonCocktailWeek.com Because London Cocktail Week is so jam packed with events, there weren’t enough days in the week, so in 2011 the festival has been extended to incorporate the weekend before as well.

London Cocktail Week is now partnering with The Whisky Show at Vinopolis (October 7 and 8) and finishing the week in style with RumFest at Olympia (October 15 and 16).
