I was walking along the alleyway that runs beside the railway track last week, from Wimbledon to Lower Downs Road, at lunchtime with my bag held firmly on my shoulder.
A cyclist came up and knocked me sideways and was off with my bag in a split second.
It was very easy for him. I have hearing loss and did not hear him coming. Not that I think it would have helped if I had heard him.
If you see a cyclist you do not automatically think “bag snatcher”, you just move over for them.
Obviously I am not damning cyclists – I am one myself – but I am writing just as a warning to others just to be more aware, as the ease with which he did it was amazing.
