Merton Saints BMX club has 11 riders qualified to compete in the 2015 UCI BMX World Championships. This is an amazing achievement for a relatively young club within the BMX fraternity. The club was only established in 2011 and some of the qualified riders have been competing for just one season.

The full list of qualified riders was announced by British Cycling on the 1st May 2015. The ‘Worlds’ take place in Zolder, Belgium from 21-25 July 2015. But, before then, riders have a busy summer schedule of National, Regional and London Series races where they will be honing their skills.

Nick Preece, Merton Saints Chairman, Head Coach and general awesome BMXer said: “This is a fantastic achievement for us as a club. All the riders, not just those that have qualified for the Worlds, train really hard and love the sport. As a club we welcome anyone who wants to get into BMXing.

Our riders are looking forward to competing alongside talented riders from clubs from across the UK and from all over the world.”

All comers are welcome. We have club bikes and protective gear, so we can kit you out if required.

Merton Saints coached sessions are on Saturdays from 10am to 12noon. All comers welcome. The club also runs gate practice with floodlights on Tuesdays from 7pm to 9pm. Sessions cost £3 for members and £5 for non-members. Annual membership is £14 for under 16’s and £20 for 16+. Riders are welcome from 4 years old.

Nic Preece club Chairman and Head Coach is a highly accomplished BMX rider and veteran of the sport. He competed in the 1985 World Championship final and has subsequently been ranked British No.1 in his age category.
