Volunteer NOW Advise Now Advocate Now Support Now Charles Barraball of Merton Centre for Independent Living (MCIL) describes his experience of being a Volunteer Peer Supporter.
Richard Downes, Engagement and Development Worker, explains MCIL's new training programme for volunteers; "We believe all MCIL volunteers deserve the same training package and right to make choices as to the activities they pursue as each other. To this end we invite potential advisers, advocates and peer supporters to participate in a new package of Equalities, Safeguarding and skills set Training. We remain committed to providing opportunities for disabled people to engage in the empowerment of other disabled people. The next members group will explore the opportunities MCIL provide".
