The other night the planning applications committee of Wandsworth Council discussed the application for development of the Wimbledon stadium site by AFC Wimbledon and Galliard Homes to Merton Council.
The committee was advised by officers of Wandsworth Council there were many concerns with the plan. I spoke on behalf of the residents of Earlsfield who welcome development of this rather sorry corner of Merton on their doorstep, but who are worried about problems relating to transport and parking on match days and other concerns with the residential development.
I informed the committee that these concerns should lead it to object to the plan as it stands and it agreed, although Labour members voted against the objection.
I hope Merton Council will take the objection of Wandsworth Council and the concerns of Earlsfield residents seriously when it comes to consider the application.
