The Pecksniff like picture in the strapline of the latest consultation paper about Wimbledon Area Traffic Scheme(WATS) introduces yet another poorly thought out and presented scheme for traffic management.

There is a complete failure statistically and by written explanation to make the case for another ridiculous proposal to interfere with traffic flowing through this part of the borough.

They intend to proceed with a plan which cannot be objected to until the structures are in place and paid for with our money.

Some pay and display parking areas are to go and if this plan proceeds the council income will be reduced. More importantly, will the emergency services be able to negotiate these proposed obstructions?

The most ridiculous part of this report is that, ’no objections will be accepted or addressed before the works are completed’ - surely undemocratic and making objections to the council about the scheme pointless at any stage. It seems as though the council is hell bent on doing something - perhaps it is a job creation scheme?

I do not think this scheme should be allowed to proceed and I believe the council should stop wasting our money on preparing these plans which have been rejected already by the majority.

Who are these people?
