I understand fully that this Merton Education College is under serious threat of closure, which I must personally fight to keep this college open. Otherwise this will upset people’s lives tremendously if they have nowhere to go for which offers so many choices of courses.

When I stopped working I needed to keep my mind open with tutor’s ideas and also meeting new and old friends who have the same interest level.

I like looking for new ideas to express myself in a creative way and this satisfies my needs also.

I need a place to go that would help me be more creative and this would most definitely fulfil my needs.

I was in my element once I had arrived at this wonderful college where the staff are very friendly and makes you feel comfortable for learning. It is clean and tidy and has a lovely lady who runs the cafe for food and drinks.

My personal reason for attending the many courses over the years was because it stops me getting depressed, as I live on my own and even when we break up at term times or summer holiday break it keeps me interested wondering what next year’s projects will be and it gets me thinking of new ideas to complete my assignment for my lovely tutor.

I have been given to understand that the Merton Adult Education will possibly close due to lack of money. This is very distressing news as the college does such splendid work, indeed it is needed by so many local people.

We must not forget the disabled, old age pensioners, stroke victims, children and parents learning together courses.

Where will all these vulnerable people go to make a mark in their lives, get out of the house, make friends and being given something active to do, also giving their carers a rest and parents free time to do as they wish.

Is there is no opportunity for re-funding?

If not – is there no chance of the closure being delayed; at least while other options are explored.
