Whilst I do not agree with many planning procedures we do have a right to work within them even if it infringes in some way with others (Going underground, November 20). We must accept the decision and work within it to lessen disappointment.

I have no doubt that the professional team and the council will work to good engineering practice.

My problem is the soil dropped onto the road, mostly trapped in tyre treads, that mixed with rainwater, causing every car coming past to splash this mixture. Why should thousands of uninvolved cars have to visit the car wash?

This would be my foremost objection and something to be watched during construction by neighbours.
