I was rather taken aback by the letter last week inferring that because residents seem to be 'middle class' they were objecting to the Plough Lane development proposed by AFC Wimbledon (Anti-football agenda anger, October 16).
There are many reasons to question the proposals put forward by both the football and the greyhound factions. My objection is the quality and density of housing proposed and both parties need that number of units to make their plans financial viable. Judging from the artists's impression for both developments the housing will be generic one and two bed flats favoured by the buy to let/buy to leave brigade of no architectural value what so ever. There seem to be no 'units' to accommodate families, no outdoor space for children to enjoy, no relief from the burden of urban living. The area is crying out for regeneration, but regeneration that will bring benefits for residents (new and old) as well as football and greyhound fans alike. All this is possible with a bit of imagination and verve. .
