With regard to the fine article by Louisa Clarence-Smith ('Lib Dems' spam horror as accounts hacked', September 25), whatever political differences I may have with Shas Sheehan, the fact remains that she is highly respected for her absolute integrity.

Many of my friends share my view that she is a credit to the Lib Dems, and a very fine lady indeed.

I am therefore disgusted that she and a very large number of senior Lib Dems are suffering cyber warfare attacks on their computer systems, including intimate information retrieval files, and their bank accounts.

This is happening on a very widespread scale as one nationally orchestrated operation.

And is very similar in terms of scale to what was experienced by the Labour Party in the run-up to the 2010 general election.

What a curious coincidence that the same thing is now happening to the Lib Dems in the run-up to the 2015 general election.

And despite the fact that Labour and the Lib Dems have very sophisticated firewalls.

Some of which are actually military grade.

And I also don't believe that the recent problems suffered by the Lib Dems in their head office, resulting in the terminating of their phone lines and email accounts, was anything other than the result of criminal hacking, political espionage and politically-motivated electronic sabotage.

This will not stand.

I do not care what political party Shas Sheehan belongs to.

There is going to be an accounting in full.

And I intend that process of accounting to begin exactly one day after the general election in May 2015.

This is not soviet Russia during the cold war, this is Great Britain and in this country there is no place for foul-smelling gangsters in political life.

Their place is where they are going: the Tower of London.

Watch this space.
