Your article in the Wimbledon Guardian (Green Light, August 7) quoted the Save our Rec campaign as saying the expansion of Dundonald School, which I pioneered four years ago," violated residents rights to the recreation area".
As a local resident can I point out the following facts, that can be checked from the school expansion plans:
• The buildings, after expansion on Dundonald Rec, will occupy exactly the same space as at present, as the school will use the footprint of the dilapidated pavilion to build on
• Due to the closure last year of the underused bowling green, there will in fact be more accessible space for local residents and children
• The expanded school will provide much needed places for 200 local children at this outstanding local school
I, like the majority of local residents, am really looking forward to the building works starting this autumn.
