Three weeks ago my nine year old granddaughter fell and broke her arm which resulted in her having it plastered.
But, she was very brave and enjoyed all her friends writing on the plaster as she and her family are moving next week from London to Torquay and she will not be seeing her friends again - so it was like a leaving card.
Today she went to the hospital to have the plaster removed and wanted to keep the old cast as a memory.
This is where the health & safety nanny police stepped in and said that she could not have it as it represented "medical waste".
Obviously she was very upset by this.
I have been a sister in casualty for a long time before retiring and could hardly believe such petty bureaucracy.
It seems that there are far too many overpaid policy makers who would be better employed finding needier issues with which to fill their days.
