About four weeks ago our regular postman (Derek) was moved to another round -against his wishes. Since then we have had a variety of different post-persons delivering our post at least one of whom could barely speak English. I don’t know how good his reading skills were.  So instead of a reliable delivery that could be timed to within half an hour, our post has arrived at all times. For example on Wednesday 16th it was delivered at 6pm!

Last Monday my niece sent me a card and cheque. I looked out for it all week but it never arrived. On Saturday evening I contacted my niece and told her to cancel the cheque and re-send it.

Yesterday afternoon a lady knocked at my door and said "I found this envelope in the street the other day, It had been opened." Inside was the card and cheque from my niece. She said that it was the first chance she’d had to give it to me.

Perhaps someone from Royal Mail can explain why my mail wasn’t delivered?

There is a well-known saying from the first World War about "Lions led by donkeys." I think this also applies to the Royal Mail Service in Merton.
