I read with interest the letter/email from Veronica Huie and Sue Hedden regarding Merton's yellow boxes and in particular the one at the junction of Armfield Crescent and London Road.

Living locally, I have on numerous occasions, had trouble getting out of this junction, so much so that I have brought this up with a local councillor (the meeting being in the library right next to this junction).

Merton Council's response was to direct me to a page on their website regarding the use of box junctions!

This junction is used as a cut through to avoid the heavy traffic at the traffic lights in Locks Lane by many drivers.

In the mornings it can take up to 10 minutes to get out, as drivers on London Road refuse to give way. Also it is difficult for cars to get to the library car park due to the parked cars and exiting traffic.

I suggest the council's traffic department needs to revisit how this and other busy junctions are used.
