I applaud the work of locals who took part in the Big Merton Spring Clean, it stated that street cleaning crews, councillors and residents took part in the initiative, no mention of any retail outlets playing a part in the scheme.

I live in Grand Drive and the amount of waste that is left behind from the retail and food outlets is unbelievable, people thinking nothing of getting food and leaving the rubbish lying on the pavement, likewise drinks (including alcohol) and sweets rubbish is also left strewn across the pavement that is nothing short of an eyesore.

Grand Drive is fast becoming an anti-sociable area being plagued by groups of youths of all ages from under 10 to their Teens who congregate outside what was Spar and at all hours – perhaps the outlets that also rely on the custom of residents may take the residents into consideration and display signage asking the customers to dispose of wrappings etc in a proper fashion, I do understand though you are going to get the minority that will always ignore such signs.
