The BBC recently reported that the EU is to launch a legal challenge to the UK for failing to deal with breaches to air pollution levels.

The EU says that levels of nitrogen dioxide, mainly from diesel engines, are "excessive" in many British cities. These gases which in the main are produced by diesel cars and trucks, can inflame the lining of the lungs and lead to respiratory disease.

The Commission says that this can lead to major respiratory illnesses and premature deaths.

Last week the Lib Dem council again went against the wishes of residents and gave planning permission for waste plants in Beddington Lane to operate and allow lorries to transport waste twenty four hours a day, seven days a week.

These lorries will be driving waste throughout Sutton all day and all night.

Yet again Liberal Democrat councillors failed to listen to common sense and residents and sided with the views of business.

With the incinerator issue, with several other planning issues, and with St Helier, Lib Dem politicians are not listening to us.

In May there will be a chance to vote for candidates in the European elections and local elections,  for people who genuinely represent the views of the people.

It's time for change.
