Richard Tracey’s attack on London Underground staff is a sad but predictable response from a Conservative politician, happy to see executive pay and the gap between rich and poor increase, but unhappy to see ordinary workers attempt to protect their jobs.
I would like to ask him what is wrong with Tube workers receiving “handsome pay”?
And “nobody faces the sack”? It has been reported that 950 jobs are at risk.
If Mr Tracey is really interested in the impact of closing ticket offices, he only needs to read the Wimbledon Guardian from a couple of weeks previously and the experiences of David Dean, one of his own Tory councillors, regarding what happened at Wimbledon station when ticket machines broke down on January 27 after cuts were made to ticket services at the turn of the year.
