What a shame Councillor Mark Allison would rather shoot the messenger than use his considerable influence as Cabinet Member for Finance to make Merton a safer place AND save Council Tax payers’ money!
Still, given his quite staggering lack of ability to understand figures it’s hardly surprising.
He clearly got his ‘noughts’ mixed up in his comments to the Wimbledon Guardian last week.
It’s the Labour group office that costs ‘tens of thousands of pounds’ to run, £127,800 to be precise, not the Merton Coalition, which cost just over £7,000 to set up and wouldn’t have cost anything had Merton Conservatives agreed to our request to use one of their three offices and borrow one of their two full-time paid staff members for just one day a week.
UKIP Councillors up and down the country are rooting out waste and inefficiency and uncovering all manner of corrupt and shambolic practices the complacent old parties have either been too lazy to tackle or which they’ve turned a blind eye too.
While both the current Labour and previous Tory Councils spent a small fortune hiring expensive financial consultants, we’re getting on with doing the job ourselves.
And we won’t stop, however many ‘nasty’ insults the Lib-Lab-Con want to throw at us.
Councillor Suzanne Evans; UKIP Hillside ward and Leader of UKIP & The Merton Coalition
