Chessington tennis star Luke Stevenson takes on Abingdon's Alexis Canter in the semi-finals of the Nikes Junior Tennis Championships today with a spring in his step.

Stevenson beath fourth seed Piers Foley from Reading 6-1 6-1 at the Nottingham Tennis Centre yesterday to as he goes in search a spot in the weekend's U16 boys' singles final.

"I think I played well and to win one and one is good for my confidence going into the semis," said the seventh seed after his victory.

"It has been a great week here, it's always good fun to play your mates and it makes a great atmosphere."

The Nike Junior Tennis Championships are the highest level competition for all juniors and the pinnacle of the summer domestic calendar.

The tournament features more than 250 players across four age groups and is a showcase for British tennis and the best junior talent in the country.

Having run for over 100 years, the tournament has an illustrious line of past winners including Andy Murray, Heather Watson, Tim Henman, Elena Baltacha, and Anne Keothavong.
