Grasshoppers slipped to a 30-7 home defeat to Hammersmith & Fulham in their first match of the new season on Saturday.
Hammersmith had a number of early chances to score but only capitalised on a penalty goal to break the deadlock.
This urged Gs into action, with a well-taken try by winger Tom Wodhouse, which Gerwyn Hughes converted.
Gs continued to press but lost the ability to retain possession, which allowed the visitors to move ahead with two unconverted tries.
The visitors made the fourth quarter of the game their own as they added two converted tries and a penalty.
This Saturday, Gs are away to London New Zealand (3pm).
